nas lead

Apparently, “Let Nas Down” didn’t let Nas down.

On a recent flight, Jermaine Cole & Nasir Jones bumped heads. Nas subsequently bumped J. Cole’s new album, Born sinner. Nas was very impressed.

I was telling people, this album has so many moments that connected that let me know I was doing the right thing, and that was one of them. I give [Nas] my headphones, I’m trying to hear what part of the song he’s on, cause he’s behind me. About a minute in to the song, he’s just like, “Whooo!” beating my chair, just banging my chair. Overall, he was wild, the look on his face was like, honored, honored that I would make that, and also highly impressed. So that was a huge moment for me.

-J. Cole

If you remember, the reason “Let Nas Down” ended up on Born Sinner was Nas not being impressed with the lead single to J. Cole’s debut album, as it was crafted too specifically for pop radio. This time around, Jermaine made sure not to make the same mistake.

Born Sinner is in stores now.
