Actors Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are making their small screen debut in a new dark comedy, Maniac! Stone and Hill also executive produce the show, which is based on a Norwegian series. Cary Fukunaga is to direct every episode. He wrote, directed and produced award show favorite, Beasts Of No Nation. He also produced and won an Emmy for his work on HBO hit True Detective. Maniac is being shopped around to services like Netflix and networks like HBO. The series follows a mental patient at psychiatric ward (Hill), who escapes his harsh reality by living in a fantasy world in his head. Stone plays another patient at the hospital.
Both Stone and Hill are Oscar nominees. Stone was nominated for her work in Birdman while Hill was nominated for his work in The Wolf of Wall Street and Moneyball. They first worked together in 2007 on the comedy, Superbad. Hill’s next project is the animated comedy, Sausage Party and Stone is featured in Damien Chazelle‘s La La Land.
