Move over Netflix, Tidal has now added movies to its subscription based service.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, the Jay Z lead service will join the likes of popular TV and movie streaming company Hulu by adding original films. Preliminary talks have been under way with the Weinstein Co., in addition to collaborations with other producers, including Irv Gotti, in acquiring original movies.

The streaming service, which features videos, musical content and exclusive concerts, including 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne‘s ColleGrove concert, focus on Tidal-signed artists, including Kanye West and Rihanna.

An unnamed source told Page Six:

“Tidal has upset everybody in the music business, the labels, Apple and Jimmy Iovine, and now it is taking on Netflix and Hulu.

The movie service will feature original content as well as acquired films. Tidal hopes to work with an indie studio or producer on a partnership to create original movies.”

The new feature will become available as early as June.
