Fox announced early last year that they would be delving deeper into the X-Men canon, introducing the world to The New Mutants in an upcoming spin-off film. While there’s been little mention of it since this announcement, due in part to promotion for the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film, we now have learned from HitFix that the film is moving forward and has began casting.

Game of Thrones‘ fan favorite Maisie Williams has been reportedly cast to play “Wolfsbane” aka Rahne Sinclair, a Scottish mutant who’s abilities allow her to transform into a werewolf. Anya Taylor-Joy who starred in The Witch has also reportedly signed on to play “Magik” aka Illya Rasputin, a powerful sorceress and sister to X-Man, Colossus.

Alexandra Shipp who will portray “Storm” in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film is also reported to be joining the New Mutant cast, along with James McAvoy as Professor X. New Mutants: “Cannonball” who can fly at the speed of a jet while within an unbreakable forcefield, “Sunspot” who can consume and channel solar power, and Mirage who’s psychic and telepathic abilities allow her to create illusions of enemies’ greatest fears, will also reportedly be cast for the film.

Reports say the film will probably hit theaters sometime in 2018. Check back for updates.
