August Alsina pays homage to his hometown in his new video
No matter how high a level of success an artist may reach and how many friends or foes they may come across while striving to reach the top, if it’s one thing that many artists will never do, it’s forget where they came from and the individuals that helped shape them into the successful artists they are today.
21-year-old New Orleans native August Alsina is no different. In his new Payne Lindsey-directed visual, Alsina pays homage to his hometown, while reminiscing on the hardships he faced during childhood, as well as obstacles he’s had to overcome having merely reached adulthood.
“This sh*t right here, it provide me a way to take care of my family,” Alsina tells viewers in the beginning of the clip. “It’s way bigger than me,” he adds, before further explaining the reason behind why he makes music.
If you have yet to hear Alsina’s EP, Downtown: Life Under the Gun, you can do so here.
