According to Variety, Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson are in talks to star in a Jumanji reboot with Sony spearheading the project. The buzz surrounding Hart and Johnson is high following their VMA’s hosting duties, so it makes perfect sense. Fans are also excited about their new film, Central Intelligence.
The 1995 version of Jumanji was a huge hit, earning around $263 million. The adaptation of the 1981 Chris Van Allsburg children’s book starred Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, and Bebe Neuwirth.
Jake Kasdan is on board to direct the new Jumanji and Matt Tolmach serves as producer. The film is expected to be released on July 28, 2017.
