As expected, Stephen Curry has won the NBA’s regular season Most Valuable Player award. However, as has become customary with the naturally flashy point guard, he did it in style.
For months, sports media speculated that for the first time in NBA history, the league could see a unanimously-voted MVP in Curry, and exactly that has happened. Curry snagged 131 out of a possible 131 1st place votes, easily beating out the rest of the top 5: Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

Just another ridiculous statistic in a season chock full of ridiculous statistics for Stephen Curry, who showed off his absurd ridiculousness in his return to the playoffs last night in case you missed it.
Previously, Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James came the closest to being unanimously named Most Valuable Player. Shaq received 120 out of a possible 121 1st place votes at the end of the 1999-2000 season, losing one vote to Allen Iverson, and LeBron got 120/121 following the 2012-2013 season, thanks to Carmelo Anthony receiving one vote. (Interestingly enough, despite Melo getting a vote that year, he wasn’t the runner-up, Kevin Durant was.)
Congrats to Steph Curry, who will look to continue his onslaught against the Blazers at home tomorrow night and advance to the West Finals.
