YG recently announced his long-awaited sophomore album, Still Krazy, would be out in June, and his newest single had arrived. It’s been a busy time for the Compton emcee, despite the fact he hasn’t been flooding the circuit with music like he’s done in past years. A politically charged collaboration with Nipsey Hussle, “F*ck Donald Trump,” was marked by a music video and Coachella performance that made international headlines, and a recent video shoot with local favorite AD was interrupted by gunshots, something YG is all too familiar with. Less than a year ago, YG was shot leaving the studio in Los Angeles, and he quickly recovered from non-life threatening injuries.

With his focus shifted back to the music, “Why You Always Hatin’” serves as the 2014 Source Man of the Year’s first official release of the year. It’s an important one, as it features Drake and is definitely party of YG’s bid to repeat the summer success he enjoyed in 2014, coupled with both the release of his album and a spot on the Endless Summer Tour, where he’ll co-star with Yo Gotti in support of headliners G-Eazy and Logic.

“Why You Always Hatin’” just premiered on OVO Sound Radio, likely the result of the relationship Drake formed with the Compton emcee when they teamed up for “Who Do You Love?,” the second-biggest hit off YG’s debut album, My Krazy Life.
