Today’s Hip Hop fan is bearing witness to a most fascinating landscape where beefs, alleged beefs, and disputes are concerned. Relationships thought to be infallible, be they familial (Birdman/Lil Wayne) or marital (Jay Z/Beyonce) are being called into question in ways many didn’t think were possible. Dynamics are being scrutinized from every angle, by everyone with a Twitter account and access to Google alerts. That being said, there is a constant: only the artists involved know what’s really going on. Whether it’s Cash Money or Lemonade.

Or, MMG. Rick Ross‘ meticulously assembled crew meshed seamlessly during its rapid ascent, but their brotherhood was challenged in 2014, when Meek Mill called out Wale on Twitter for not supporting promotion of his sophomore album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, originally slated to drop in September of that year. (It of course was delayed 9 months when Meek Mill was unexpectedly sent back to prison.) Since then, Wale and Meek Mill’s relationship has fluctuated in the public eye. Things between the two seemed amiable when Meek surprised the crowd at Wale’s The Album About Nothing release party in March, but appeared to sour again months later when Wale critiqued the manner in which Meek called out Drake for using ghostwriters.

In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club that aired today, Wale did his best to set the record straight regarding Meek and MMG. In short, the “My PYT” rapper noted that regardless of how things appear to the general public, he and Meek Mill are brothers, and they will be fine going forward. Though they haven’t spoken much since Meek began his house arrest bid, they’ve worked together on MMG’s forthcoming compilation album, Self Made 4, which is on its way.

Wale also brought along DJ Sam Sneaker for the chat; Sneaker of course is the man featured on Wale’s “My PYT” single, which is the first taste of his 5th LP, SHINE, due out this fall. Watch the full interview above.
