A shooting broke out at New York City’s Irving Plaza venue late Wednesday night during a T.I. concert, injuring at least four people according to CBS New York. The shots were fired around 10 p.m. ET, injuring two men, aged 33 and 34, both of whom were “likely to die of their wounds” according to the CBS report. Following the shooting, both were rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center.
In addition, a 26-year-old woman injured in the shooting was taken to Bellevue, and a fourth person, details on whom are not available at this time, was rushed to NYU Langone Medical Center.
T.I., who recently inked deals with NY-based companies Roc Nation and TIDAL, was performing at Irving Wednesday night alongside several other artists, including Anderson Paak, Troy Ave, and PNB Rock. New York rapper Dave East revealed on Twitter that he was among the surprise guests scheduled to perform, but he never got the chance.
A member of our staff was present at Irving Plaza when the chaos erupted, and she had this to say about what she witnessed:
The gunshots started upstairs in the VIP area…people from upstairs started rushing down the stairs and onto the stage. The exits were full because everyone was rushing out, so I was stuck in the middle of a stampede…there was a man by one exit with a very bloody face. A shooter, not sure if it was the same one from upstairs, came down to my floor as people were rushing out and started shooting again.
As of the time of this writing, there are no confirmed reports or updates about the first two aforementioned men that were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but we will provide updates as soon as they’re made available. Below is a brief clip of the chaos immediately after shots began ringing out inside the venue.
