Late Wednesday night, at least four people were shot during a T.I. show at Irving Plaza. One of the shooting victims, Ronald McPhatter, died from wounds suffered during the shooting after being rushed to Bellevue Hospital. McPhatter was believed to be a member of Troy Ave‘s BSB crew, and his mother slammed Troy Ave earlier today for not reaching out to offer his condolences, according to the NY Daily News.
However, there’s been a somewhat shocking twist to the developments. In the immediate aftermath of last night’s shooting, there were Twitter rumblings that Troy Ave and/or his crew were somehow involved in the shooting, but those claims were not substantiated. Today, the Daily News is reporting that Troy Ave has been arrested at NYU Langone Medical Center; he was rushed there last night after being grazed by a bullet during the raucous inside the Manhattan concert venue.
The report cites sources that say not only was Troy Ave a source of gunshots, but the injury he suffered was self-inflicted. Sources also had this to say about the Brooklyn rapper’s involvement: “There is very clear, very graphic video. He walks right out, women all around, and starts shooting his gun.”
Police are allegedly awaiting the results of a ballistics report before charging Troy Ave with murder. Thus far he’s reportedly been charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession.
We’ll continue to provide updates as they’re made available.
