Last night was the Scripps National Spelling Bee, a maddening competition in which shockingly young kids spell words that have never been come across by a good chunk of the population. Like, 99.9 percent of the population.

Unfortunately, there aren’t enough of those otherworldly words to fool 13-year-old Jairiam Hathwar of New York, and 11-year-old Nihar Janga of Texas, so the competition would end with them as co-champions. Hopefully, neither one of them find it to be a consolation prize. Considering the words they had to spell, they both earned the honor through and through.

One of the kids decided to use his championship moment as an opportunity to pay homage to one of his favorite NFL players. When Janga correctly spelled “gesellschaft,” and became a 2016 champion, he threw up Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant‘s signature “X” sign with his arms, which was a thankful deviation from the dab, which had been run into the ground the entire night by contestants.

We’re not sure whether or not spelling is up Bryant’s alley or not, but he sure appreciated the nod from Janga. Upon seeing footage of his celebration, Bryant reached out to Janga on Twitter, promising that he would get him out to a Cowboys game.

Considering Janga is a native of Texas, his dreams probably just came true.
