Bernie Sanders is a man of the people, and is very much prevalent in the minds of those influenced by Hip Hop culture. As a reminder, Sanders chose DMX‘s 2003 banger “Where The Hood At” as his entrance music during a really in California yesterday, a move that was cheered seemingly to no end by both those present at the rally and those watching along on social media.

It’ll be tough for Sanders to overcome the distance Hillary Clinton has put between them in recent weeks, but the Vermont senator is pushing onward, and he appears to have made a fan out of DMX himself.

In a hilarious statement to Complex, DMX responed to Bernie’s preferred soundtrack with an eloquent and heartfelt message:

Where the hood at?

We wish we were kidding, but we’re not. That was, apparently, the total statement. And actually, we take that back. We don’t wish we were kidding. Never change, X.
