The Western Conference Finals has been quite the wild ride. The Oklahoma City Thunder jumped out to a surprising 3-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors, but succumbed to the pressure of trying to close out the best team ever in games 5 and 6, and now find themselves in a 3-3 series tie. They have the daunting task of playing a win-or-go-home game in the Warriors home arena tonight, which will tip the scales in the Warriors favor, but in what’s essentially become a 1-game series–March Madness style–anything is possible.
The NBA clearly doesn’t believe in that theory. According to their Facebook page, the Cleveland Cavaliers will face off against the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, which kick off on Thursday. Super awkward.
It’s probably just a glitch or mistake by whoever runs that Facebook page, but it’s also pretty telling. If Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant catches wind of this, they could quickly turn it into bulletin board material. Then again, if Klay Thompson plays tonight like he did on Saturday, none of that will matter.
