Kevin Durant‘s season is over, but there’s still an NBA Finals to be played, so the impending summer madness that will be NBA Free Agency will have to wait until July 1, when players can begin signing with other teams. In the meantime, question will continue to be lobbed at KD, his teammates and Thunder coach Billy Donovan about the former MVP’s future with the team. Though there was a growing feeling that KD might take the opportunity to be “the man” again on another team in lieu of the superstar growth of Russell Westbrook, after dispatching the 65-win Spurs and very nearly the 73-win Warriors in this year’s playoffs, that feeling has changed. KD’s best chance to win might be in blue-and-orange (and we don’t mean the Knicks).

There’s also the question of whether or not Durant will allow himself to be courted, much like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony were during their free agency summers. Teams flew the stars to their respective cities, wined and dined them, and threw bucketloads of money and endorsements at them and their agents. Though Wade and Melo remained with their teams, they spoke highly of the process. KD on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be a fan.

Speaking today with reporters, the Thunder forward shot down the idea of him jetting out to Washington, Boston or even Golden State, to see what they could offer him.

Does this mean Durant has already made up his mind to stay? No. It probably just means that he feels he can make a decision without being wined and dined, which would be a unique approach to say the least.
