Australian native and back-up point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers Matthew Dellavedova is getting his own signature shoes.

Yes, you read that correctly. According to Dellavedova, he was approached by PEAK Australia, who made the Eastern Conference Champion aware of their will to introduce a basketball shoe into the Aussie market.

From there, talks became more serious in the past year, and PEAK worked hard on developing a shoe that offers the type of reliability and performance that drives me every day.

Dellavedova isn’t the typical NBA superstar that gets approached with potential shoe deals, but he made his mark significantly. Last year, after Kyrie Irving went down with an injury in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Dellavedova stepped in with a spirited effort, and was a key reason the Cavs were able to jump out to a 2-1 series lead.

The shoe, which will be called the “Delly 1,” will drop in Australia later this year as part of a three-year deal that Dellavedova signed with the company. A rep for PEAK had this to say about their new venture. “Matthew offers the type of characteristics that we want people to associate with our brand. He is already such a fantastic role model to the basketball community in Australia, and it’s our hope that through this global partnership with PEAK, Matthew will become a household name throughout the 70-plus countries that PEAK are located in.”
