The family of Muhammad Ali is flocking to his hospital bedside today as doctors fear that the end is near for the boxing legend.

According to a Mirror report, Ali is currently in intensive care after being admitted to the hospital in what was said to be “fair condition” yesterday. Bob Gunnell, an Ali family spokesman, said in a statement on Thursday that “A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”

Unfortunately, since the time of that statement, the situation appears to have worsened. Medics at the Phoenix area hospital continue to fight a respiratory issue that Ali has developed, and four of his nine children have flocked to the Olympic gold medalist’s bedside to support the biggest fight of their dad’s life.

The report also cites a source that admits that Ali’s Parkinson’s is ‘hampering’ doctor’s efforts to alleviate the problems brought about by the breathing problems.

We can only hope and pray that Ali’s condition takes a turn for the better as medics work around the clock. Stay tuned for updates on the legend’s situation.
