In light of his cancelled Governors Ball performance and a rushed Summer Jam set, Kanye West decided at some point yesterday that he wanted to feed the New York City streets all the pent up live raps he’d been deprived of delivering due to inclement weather. Kim Kardashian, Pusha T and 2 Chainz began quietly promoting a pop-up G.O.O.D. Music concert at Webster Hall, and before long, what looked like the entire Lower East Side jam-packed a good portion of East 12th street. Kanye was coming, and they weren’t going to miss it.

Unfortunately, venue security and the NYPD put an end to that. ‘Ye, seemingly oblivious of his own rampant fame, arrived at Webster, escaped with his life, then attempted to get set up at several other Lower Manhattan venues before eventually giving up and hitting the sack. His G.O.O.D. Music brethren opted to turn up at the renowned S.O.B.’s club, which looked like a blast.

During West’s desperate attempts to find a venue, he was seen on his wife Kim K’s Snapchat ordering someone to get NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio on the phone. Surely, if he pleaded delicately with de Blasio, he could get the mayor to help him set up screens and speakers so he could perform inside a venue while the people that couldn’t get in could still witness the show.

Needless to say, those efforts were futile, but de Blasio did get wind of Kanye’s 3 a.m. request. He responded a short while ago with a Snapchat photo of him, captioned “Does someone have Kanye’s number?” The photo was accompanied by a tweet telling the Wests that there are summer block parties in the city that they could get involved in. That’s right, not even the mayor is above a shameless plug.

Still, considering the violence that’s been associated with live rap events over the last couple of weeks, it’s good to see that the mayor can be lighthearted about chaos that involves Hip Hop.
