Much has been said and written about ILoveMakonnen in recent weeks, especially since it was announced that he was no longer on Drake‘s OVO Sound Records, the label that inked a deal with Makonnen after his “Tuesday” remix with Drake topped charts and received a Grammy nomination. The Atlanta rapper is still signed to Warner Bros. however, and he’s continued to release music, most recently Drink More Water 6, which spawned popular Makonnen joints like “Big Gucci” and “Solo.”

The alias-happy Makonnen performed those songs, and several others, during his headlining set at London’s Born & Bred festival this weekend, and he took the time to stop by Tim Westwood‘s radio show before returning to the states. Over the instrumentals for three Future songs–“Where Ya At,” “I’m the Plug,” “Jumpman”–Makonnen went straight off the dome, rapping about everything from the tension with his label to his weight loss.

Going “off the top” during a radio freestyle is a difficult thing to do, and there were some social media pundits who ripped Makonnen for his attempt. Makonnen responded by pointing out that he refuses to rap a previously prepared verse for a freestyle, before claiming that he’s “out rapped your favorite rapper.”
