Usher isn’t just a Cavs fan, he’s a minority owner of the team. Which makes this that much more awkward.

It was a tough night for Cleveland fans. Time and time again they watched their team squander opportunities to bury the Warriors, and viable chances in the 4th quarter to go on a run and claim a comeback victory. LeBron looked like a bystander, J.R. Smith disappeared in the clutch, and had it not been for Kyrie Irving, who has easily been the team’s best player in this series, it might not even have been as close for as long as it was.

So, after the game, Usher decided to run over to his homie LeBron and offer some quick condolences. You know, when you see your bro have a tough night, you slap him on the chest or back and tell him that there’s more fightin’ to do. Well LeBron wasn’t having any of it. Maybe he didn’t realize it was Usher trying to get his attention. Maybe. Either way, he brushed the singer off as if he were a pesky heckler.

Ouch.

So, Usher did what any sensible minority owner of the Cavs–a team in danger of losing its second consecutive NBA Finals to a guy who has to promote these in commercial would do. Go big-up the other team’s best player, because he totally wouldn’t brush you off.
