Drake‘s Views album dropped on April 29. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 a week later, and has yet to relinquish that position.
For the sixth consecutive week, Views is the #1 album in the country, nearly doubling up on Beyoncé‘s Lemonade, which came in at #2 with 69,000 units moved. Views tallied 135,000 equivalent album units, 32,000 of which came from traditional sales, an impressive number to be boasting a month-and-a-half after the release of an LP.
At the rate Drake is going, it’s going to take an event release to dethrone him. Notable new releases from pop stars like Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor have tried and failed to drop Views from the top spot, and spirited efforts from Lemonade, which was released a week before Views, have continuously fallen short following its #1 debut week.
In addition, “One Dance,” after being topped by Justin Timberlake‘s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” for one week, has landed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth week, four of which have been consecutive. Just behind Drake’s dancehall hit are Desiigner‘s “Panda” and JT’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” which stood pat at #2 and #3 respectively this week.
It’s worth noting that next week, Views appears to have an easy road to a seventh consecutive week at #1. Nick Jonas‘ third solo LP, Last Year Was Complicated, will make its debut, and is expected to move roughly 57,000 units on the high side, which will likely not be enough to dethrone Drizzy’s latest LP.
