Juan Uribe has been a hell of a player throughout his career, and he’s also known for being a bit of a jokester. The Indians third baseman was recently asked why he can’t wear a cup by a sports writer, and his response left little to be desired about the reasoning.
Juan Uribe said today he doesn’t wear a cup because the trainers don’t have one in his size…. Then he said I’m serious.

As it happens, Uribe took a line drive off the bat of Angels star Mike Trout straight to the gonads, which resulted in a testicular contusion that probably makes wearing your run-of-the-mill cup rather cumbersome. If you’ve ever seen Mike Trout swing a baseball bat, you’ll know why just the idea of that pain is enough to keep some up at night.
Still, we’re sure Uribe would much rather run with the idea that his genital assets are a tad too gaudy for the Indians’ general cup dimensions.
