Early this week, Lil Wayne sent shockwaves throughout the rap world when TMZ revealed that his private jet had to make an emergency landing due to the Young Money rapper suffering from a seizure. Wayne reportedly consciously refused medical treatment afterwards, which was somewhat soothing news, but subsequent reports that a second seizures had taken place prompted fans to fear the worst.
Thankfully, Lil Wayne is okay now, despite his representative admitting to the fact that Weezy did suffer from a “minor seizure.” Under guidance from doctors, Wayne recovered nicely, and was seen on stage just days later at a Los Angeles event. However, follow-up reports from TMZ indicated that the rapper’s seizures were due to excessive consumption of cough syrup or lean, which has been attributed to his past seizures issues in 2012 and 2013.
Today however, through his rep, Weezy has denied the idea that this most recent bout with seizures can be linked to his lean consumption. According to TMZ, Wayne’s team is saying that the episode occurred because he wasn’t taking his epilepsy medication (Wayne revealed in 2013 that he suffers from epilepsy). The “Believe Me” rapper thought he’d be fine without it for a few days, but that turned out to be not entirely accurate.
For what it’s worth, he appeared to be in good spirits and health at his first post-seizure performance.
