Brooklyn Hip Hop is still alive and well. Last night Hot 97 hosted the Neighborhood Flavor Best of Brooklyn part, sponsored by Jack Daniel’s Honey at The Villain in Williamsburg. The two floor venue facilitated a packed crowd of party goers and music enthusiasts alike who shared a love for food, Hip Hop and of course Jack Daniels Honey.
In between nibbling wings from Soco in Brooklyn, beef patties from Golden Krust, and cheesecake from Juniors, the crowd received stellar performances from Brooklyn’s own Talib Kweli, Torae, and Joell Ortiz as well as Nitty Scott MC and R&B up and comer Ro James. Each act left it all on the floor, from Scott’s Big Pun-influenced raps, to Ro James piercing falsetto vocals, to the legendary Talib Kweli performing classic records like “The Blast” and “Definition”. Tenured Hot 97 disc jockey DJ Enuff and weekend DJ Jen from BKLYN kept the party rocking. Meanwhile Jack Daniel’s staff provided many flavorful cocktails such as its Peach Mojito and Jack Daniels Honey Lemonade.
If you weren’t there you missed out on some delicious grub, smooth libations and wicked tunes.
