He won his first ring, and now he’s calling it quits.

Richard Jefferson has been a hell of an NBA player over his career. He was drafted by the Nets, was a key piece to their Finals run, and averaged 22 points and 5 rebounds per game in his final season with the team in 2007-2008. Since then he’s been a bit of a journeyman, and outside of a three-season stint with the San Antonio Spurs, Jefferson has been one-and-done with every team since leaving New Jersey. The Bucks, Warriors, Jazz and Mavs all saw RJ suit up for them for one season before he ended up somewhere else the following year. Unfortunately, the same will be true for the Cavaliers, except it’s a different kind of one-and-done. RJ isn’t leaving for another team, he’s retiring.

Jefferson was a key cog in the Cavs’ championship wheel these playoffs, and it appears that his plans are to take his ring and ride off into the sunset.

That’s how you go out.
