Last night’s NBA Finals Game 7 was a huge deal for a number of reasons, and commercials pretty much flew under the radar.
Well, not this one.
Verizon’s commercials and ad campaigns have come under scrutiny significantly in past weeks, as Sprint has swiped the infamous “Verizon Man,” Paul Marcarelli, for an ad campaign of their own. So, Verizon is striking back with Jamie Foxx, posing as Future‘s fictional father, “Past,” in a hilarious new commercial performing “I Got Verizon,” a jingle that sounds strangely familiar to one of Future’s biggest hits, “Commas.”
Foxx even has grayed-dreads, and he really gets into the “Past” character, muttering “I taught [Future] everything he knows” before dabbing and dancing with his cane throughout the spot. Naturally, Future himself caught wind of the spoof, and graciously acknowledged Verizon in an indirect tweet.
Thanks for the love…super
