Since the release of his major label debut, Summertime ’06, Vince Staples has become one of rap’s most salient voices, from speaking out in support of Ray J‘s importance on Hot 97 to his public denouncement of NBA stars, which landed him a guest spot on more than one ESPN talk show and a GQ web series. Despite his entertaining interviews and the fact that he might be the best tweeter in rap, Staples should still be known best for the cutthroat raps that made Summertime ’06 one of 2015’s most essential releases. His gripping tales of survival and bearing witness to Long Beach’s atrocities, laid delicately over No I.D.‘s stripped down production have made him one of the game’s most dangerous artists, and it looks like he’ll continue wreaking havoc this summer.

In a new cover interview for The Fader, Staples reveals the name of his new EP, Prima Donna, which will apparently feature production from DJ Dahi and James Blake. Dahi worked with I.D. and Staples on Summertime, but the James Blake factor is a new and intriguing venture for the Long Beach emcee. Blake has been busy in his own right as of late, appearing on Beyoncé‘s Lemonade album, and releasing a surprise LP of his own, The Colour in Anything.

In Staples’ Instagram post of his new cover, he attached the caption “Summer Music,” so let’s hope we get Prima Donna sooner than later.
