It’s been a sensational year for Chance The Rapper, who has made good on his superstar potential. It began in February with his scene-stealing performance on Saturday Night Live alongside Kanye West, The Dream, Young Thug and Kirk Franklin, continued with his contributions on ‘Ye’s The Life of Pablo Album, and really took off with the release of his first full-length solo project since 2013, Coloring Book, which broke Billboard records when it became the first-ever stream-only project to crack the Billboard 200.
In addition, he’s been largely credited with inspiring The Recording Academy’s recent announcement that stream-only projects are officially GRAMMY eligible. The “Chance rule,” which is what we’ll likely be calling it in short order, allows for Coloring Book to be nominated at the prestigious music awards show in February of 2017, which will likely make this winter’s nominations the most anticipated nominations in years.
Now, Lil Chano from 79th is taking his show on the road, as he announced the North American leg of his Magnificent Coloring World Tour earlier today. Tickets for this part of the trek, which promises “special guests,” went on sale today for date ranging from September 15 in San Diego to October 21 in San Francisco. More information here.
