In most major sports, the debate as to who the best player is can get pretty contentious. In the NBA, there’s the tireless LeBron James vs. Steph Curry argument–though LeBron’s closing statement on Sunday should be enough to convince any jury. In baseball, there’s the Bryce Harper/Josh Donaldson/Giancarlos Stanton debate. In football, is it Tom Brady or Cam Newton? Even in golf, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy seem to be trading blows for that honor.

In soccer, however, there’s no debate or argument. There’s Leo Messi, and then there’s the rest of the playing field. (Sorry Ronaldo.)

So, it should surprise no one that Messi has some of the most devoted fans in the world. You probably remember the impoverished child last year who went viral after drawing a Messi jersey on a plastic bag and posing in it gleefully. He’s not alone. In the above video clip, you can see a fan wearing an actual Messi jersey, storm the pitch during the high-profile USA vs. Argentina match, and quite literally bow at the feet of the legendary player. Messi even graciously hugs the fan several times after he gets up of his knees.

Where was security? In awe, probably. So were we. Messi was masterful in the match yesterday, scoring the game’s first goal, assisting on another, and eventually leading Argentina to a 4-0 victory in the Copa America semifinal.

We feel you, bro.
