A-Rod is ’bout to lose 25 M’s; I kinda hate it had to be him. Alex Rodriguez was suppose to be the one, Griffey, Jr. got hurt, Bonds juiced up. A-Rod was destined for greatness with his multiple $250M + contracts but now, he faces the pain of losing $25M dollars, all due to a 162-game drug-related ban.
But A-Rod isn’t going away without a fight, the Yankee slugger, (too early to say former?), decided to take one last swing for the fences as he sues Major League Baseball and the players’ union in federal court, trying to overturn his suspension. Initially, the MLB handed down a 211-game ban for what they say was his use of numerous performance-enhancing drugs and his attempt to cover up the use by obstructing baseball’s investigation into a South Florida clinic.
Rodriguez appealed the original MLB 211-game ban, and an independent arbitrator slightly lowered the suspension to a full season, that consists of 162 games. And like he said he would, A-Rod and his team of lawyers is also appealing that decision. A-Rod’s main argument is that Anthony Bosch, who owned the South Florida clinic, is a “criminal”, whose credibility should be questioned (much of the case against A-Rod is built on Bosch’s records and testimony).
It also worth noting that other players connected to the clinic, such as 2011 MVP Ryan Braun, have accepted harsh punishments from the league. Should A-Rod just accept the punishment or should he continue to fight?
