ATL crooner and up-and-coming R&B sensation, August Alsina, is gearing up for his Def Jam debut album, Testimony. While fans will have to wait until the spring to hear the full length, today he dropped off his latest single, “Make It Home”. Unlike his previous club anthems, this track tells the dark and tragic story of a young man, who is living in relative uncertainty, thanks to the streets. It is a harrowing look at what life in the oftentimes glamorized “hood” actually feels like to those who are raised there. The hook itself is especially depressing, as Alsina lists off his last wishes, in case he doesn’t make it home. Jeezy contributes a verse at the end of the song, which helps to take the song full circle. It is a song that challenges the young singer, and will have you excited to hear more.
