Johnny Manziel has been suspended for four games by the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy, according to ESPN.

Today’s news is just the latest in a string of bad news concerning Manziel, a former 1st-round pick and starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Earlier this year, Manziel fell out of favor with the Browns organization for his incessant partying, and they released him in March, in favor of signing Robert Griffin III, their quarterback of the future.

In recent months, Manziel has been accused of physically assaulting his girlfriend, trashing a West Hollywood mansion he’d rented, and being involved in a Las Vegas brawl during a Drake show. His off-field actions have scared nearly every pro team away from him, and prompted even Jerry Jones, widely believed to be the biggest Johnny Manziel fan among team owners, to declare that the former Heisman Trophy winner would need get his act together before the Cowboys even consider offering him a contract.

ESPN is also reporting that someone close to Manziel has expressed that the 23-year-old quarterback is very serious about getting sober this summer.
