So far, the 2016 NBA offseason has been quite the eye-popper. Forget marquee guys like Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard and Al Horford, players from all over the country are cashing in on the raised salary cap and influx of money from the NBA’s recent deal with Turner Sports. Timofey Mozgov, who was lost in Tyronn Lue‘s NBA Finals rotation on the Cavs, accepted the Lakers’ $64 million offer two days ago, and Evan Turner, who has yet to live up to the potential many saw in him when he was drafted with the 2nd overall pick, garnered $72 million from the Portland Trailblazers. It’s no wonder guys like Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki have opted out of deals with the only teams they’ve ever played for, and are making sure their compensated properly.

Mike Conley, the quiet assassin of a point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, doesn’t have to worry about being compensated. Last night, the Grizzlies offered him a 5-year, $153 million dollar deal that he accepted, making his contract the richest NBA contract in league history. If it sounds like a lot, it is. Conley’s contract dwarfs that of bigger NBA stars like Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook, but he means a lot to the Grizzlies organization. Especially considering that free agent guard Chandler Parsons agreed to a long-term deal with the team yesterday, things are looking up in Memphis.

Maybe Marc Gasol made the right decision to stay with the team last summer after all.
