Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, hosts of the WNYC podcast 2 Dope Queens recently ended their first season.

The very popular podcast caught the ears of many listeners from its first episode, pushing it to be one of the most popular on the WNYC platform. The podcast features conversations between Williams and Robinson on different topics and sets from comedians. The first season entailed the hosts doing live recordings in Brooklyn’s Union Hall before a live audience, even taking it on the road to San Francisco.

Many may recognize the ridiculously talented Williams as a former correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. Robinson is a stand up comedian and writer for many television shows who’s currently working with Comedy Central’s Broad City and MTV’s Girl Code.

The increase of calls for diversity in the entertainment industry coupled with the rise in the mainstream psyche of the lack of multicultural awareness makes it a great time for these types of podcast to emerge. In the lead up to the debut of the podcast, Williams and Robinson were interviewed by the Huffington Post, where they talked about the lack of female comedians of color in production rooms. They also mentioned the positive responses they get from Black women and using it as motivation to continue in their efforts.
