Kevin Durant will not play for the Oklahoma City Thunder next season.
That harsh reality, coupled with the franchise he picked in favor of the one that drafted him, the Golden State Warriors, has Kevin Durant fans and Thunder fans hurt and emotionally distraught after this morning’s decision.
Despite a heartfelt letter posted to The Player’s Tribune written by Durant, and the 9 tireless years he gave the cities of Seattle and Oklahoma City as its rookie sensation and eventual all-World superstar, fans are doing what fans do best: react.
The reactions aren’t coming in the forms of equally heartfelt response letters or heated debates. No, that would be civil. Remember what sports fan is short for: sports fanatic. And fanatics do not react in a civil manner when the stars with whom they’ve invested their hearts ditch their team.
Instead, they burn sh*t. Specifically, said player’s jersey. See for yourself.
