Dave East has been one of New York’s treasured young rappers for quite some time, but in 2016, he’s caught his stride. East, who benefited from a delicate Nas co-sign early on in his career, has become a force to be reckoned with, collaborating with a plethora of mainstream stars, from Trey Songz to Fabolous, and likely has more fireworks ready to be launched.
One of those fireworks is a brand new project, Kairi Chanel, which impacts on July 22. It will be East’s first solo effort since the aptly titled Hate Me Now, and will surely be an appropriate offering to help new fans become more acquainted with the NY native’s many budding talents.
For now, here’s a new banger to hold fans over until Chanel drops, “Stovetop.” Could he be hinting at the fact that he’s heating up? You bet.
