For the first time in 8 years, someone other than Barack Obama will stand at the podium, and address the Democratic National Convention as its Presidential candidate. Hillary Clinton, a political rock star in her own right, will be bestowed that distinct honor, and she’ll have to wow thousands of onlookers like Obama did in 2008 and four years later in 2012, if she wants to get her potential presidency off to the right start.

To help with that, Democratic officials have called upon none other than Snoop Dogg. The veteran Long Beach rapper will perform at a “unity party” during the DNC festivities this summer. The party goes down on July 28 in Philadelphia, where DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lenny Kravitz and more will also be entertaining crowds.

Snoop wasted no time throwing his support behind Clinton once her candidacy was announced earlier this year.

But I’ll say that I would love to see a woman in office because I feel like we’re at that stage in life to where we need a perspective other than the male’s train of thought. And just to have a woman speaking from a global perspective as far as representing America, I’d love to see that. So I’ll be voting for Ms. Clinton.

Hey, don’t chalk this up to pandering either. Marijuana legalization is an issue that divides Washington, and if Hillary’s got any plans of supporting supporting any legalization or decriminalization efforts over the next four years, she’s just cast the first stone.
