At some point soon, the term “super team” will cease to be an effective description of the Golden State Warriors roster. There will have to be a more hyperbolic term to take its place.

The Warriors, led by 2-time reigning MVP Steph Curry and his formidable cast of co-stars, broke the NBA record for wins in a single season last year, totaling 73 wins and just 9 losses. Though they fell short of repeating as NBA Champions, breaking the ’98 Bulls 72-10 record was a feat thought to be impossible, and the Warriors did it. And they made it look easy.

This summer, the Warriors became an even better team. Exponentially better, if you can imagine that. They added Kevin Durant, one of the top 3 players in the world, and David West, who’s been a stud in the low post for most of his career. Now, they could be adding yet another Splash Brother to the backcourt.

41-year-old Ray Allen has reached out to the Golden State Warriors about a possible return to the NBA. Allen, who scored at a clip of 18.9 points per game over his 18-year career, last played for the Miami Heat in 2014, where he averaged a shade under 10 points per game. However, Allen was believed to have more playing years in him after that season, and he might get a chance to prove it.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that Allen is also intrigued by the possibility of playing for the Cavaliers, Clippers and Spurs–basically, he’d like a third ring to add to his trophy case before he utters the words ‘I’m retiring.’

If Allen should in fact join the Warriors, they’d boast two of the greatest shooters ever in Curry and Allen, one of the greatest scorers ever in Durant, and one of the best shooters alive in Klay Thompson.

Should they even bother playing defense?
