Richard Williams, the father of tennis greats Serena and Venus Williams, was released from hospital last week with ‘memory issues’ after apparently sufering from a stroke during the week of Wimbledon.
Serena kept her father’s stroke a secret while she whisked her way to her seventh Wimbledon win and her and Venus triumphed in women’s doubles.
Richard’s third wife, Lakeisha Williams, 37, revelealed the shock news to a US website.
She said, “His condition is fair. He’s up and walking around but he’s not at 100 per cent. He needs speech therapy, psychological therapy and physical therapy but for now, he refused.”
The 74 year old Compton. CA native coached his two daughters since childhood, who have become international champions in the sport of tennis.
