Baseball players aren’t referred to as the Bad Boys of Summer for no reason. With football still two months away and basketball done until the fall, the sweltering summer months belong to America’s age-old pastime, which has produced some of the biggest sports icons in the nation’s history, from Babe Ruth to Derek Jeter.

At one point, Darryl Strawberry was one of those icons, and he did it all in the big city as a superstar for both the New York Mets and Yankees during his 16-year career, bringing four championships to NYC (three with the Yankees, one with the Mets).

However, Strawberry’s image and trajectory were derailed by the three suspensions he was handed down by Major League Baseball, all for substance abuse. It’s widely believed that had Strawberry stayed clean throughout his career, his potential would have been greatly realized, or at least more than it actually was. That in itself is a heavy statement, considering we’re speaking of someone who was voted an All-Star a whopping 8 times, and led the National League in home runs once.

Needless to say, Strawberry was in “f*ck it” mode for a considerable part of his baseball life, and he doesn’t appear to have plans of ditching that demeanor. During an interview with SiriusXM’s notorious sports radio host Mad Dog, Strawberry admitted to more debauchery: He apparently used to have sex during Mets games (road games especially).

When I was on the road, probably. It’s a great possibility. In the middle of a game. Let’s just leave it at that. Been there, done that. Between innings. It worked out well just how crazy it was. It kind of worked out that way. You point (a woman) out and tell the kid (to go get her).

No need for clarification there. It’s really a wonder he managed to have such a successful career, given all the distractions we’ve heard about over the years. If you’d like to listen to more Darryl Strawberry confessions, listen to the full interview below.
