For much of the offseason, it’s been a foregone conclusion that LeBron James will re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The circumstances are much different from the last two times he was a free agent in Cleveland. This time around, he’s the reigning champion and NBA Finals MVP, and has a great shot at returning to the Finals for the 7th consecutive time, even given improved Eastern Conference teams like the Knicks and Celtics.

So, it should come as no surprise that per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, a.k.a. the “LeBron Whisperer,” King James has informed Cleveland that he’ll be returning. What will his contract look like? That remains to be seen. As Windhorst points out, it could either be another one-year deal that gives LBJ leeway to cash in when the salary cap raises again next season, or it could be a multi-year deal that will likely be rivaled only by Mike Conley Jr.‘s record-setting contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Either way, you can count on LeBron James leading Cleveland into the fire once again for at least one more season.
