Beanie Sigel has had a tumultuous past few years, on account of being shot, handling legal issues and seeing his health fluctuate. However, the infallible, legendary Philadelphia emcee is still one of the best in the business when it comes to what this bars thing, and he illustrates that sentiment with a brand new song, “Still Public Enemy,” that attacks police brutality and its relationship with the Black community.

Sigel poses several pivotal questions for America throughout the song, and reminds it that until Black people’s suffering is acknowledged, this cycle of violence from the police will unfortunately continue. Towards the end of the song, Sigel pulls from the troubling video of Philando Castile‘s girlfriend explaining her boyfriend’s violent demise, which came from unnecessary police violence.
