Despite inconsistent ratings during its second season, Lee DanielsEmpire remains one of the most-watched and talked about shows on television. It will return for an anticipated third season this fall, and a cast that already features big names like Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Bryshere Gray will add another big name to its roster for season 3: Scott Mescudi, a.k.a. Kid Cudi.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the artist and actor will portray Gram, an independent rapper and a direct rival to Gray’s character, Hakeem Lyon. Furthermore, Gram will reportedly be dating Lyon’s ex-girlfriend, Tiana, played by Serayah McNeill. This will likely only add to Lyon’s many emotional conundrums; season 3 ended with his wedding to his fiancé being called off.

Cudi is no newbie to the small screen. He’s previously been featured in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Entourage and How to Make it in America. On the music side of things, Cudi plans to release at least one album this year, and has been in the studio with Travi$ Scott and Kanye West among others. Busy year for the astronaut.
