For the first time in months, the media is in outrage about something done by a Trump not named Donald. That split hair didn’t stop YG from unleashing the remix to his viral Still Brazy hit, “FDT (F*ck Donald Trump),” featuring G-Eazy and Macklemore.
The song, which originally featured Nipsey Hussle, comes with quite the self-explanatory chorus, but YG and Nip talked at-length about being at odds with Trump’s immigration policy. This time around, G-Eazy is the one calling out Trump for making the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting about him, and Macklemore teases a move to Canada should Trump win, but eventually iterates that he’d stick it out because he’s a patriot.
The fact that YG chose two white rappers to join him on the “FDT” remix is interesting, and potentially unifying. Whether he’s intentionally quelling the idea that supporting/denouncing Trump’s campaign isn’t an issue of race, but rather humanity, YG is certainly making a statement with this remix.
It’s also worth noting that YG joined Macklemore on his most recent album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, and is currently on the Endless Summer Tour with G-Eazy.
