As expected, it didn’t take long for Gucci Mane to get working once he hit the streets following being released from prison in May. In a matter of weeks, the Atlanta rap god had two collaborations with Kanye West cooking, one with Drake, videos being shot, and an album in the works, to be released on Atlantic Records.
Today, that time has come, as Everybody Looking is officially available everywhere. It isn’t a hiatus-break by any means for Gucci, he released more music than most free citizens during his time behind bars, and had more influence on the rap scene in his native Atlanta than some have had on their hometowns during entire careers. The crop of artists and producers that Gucci has played a major role in raising to prominence–Young Thug, Zaytoven, Mike Will Made-It–join Gucci on Everybody Looking, as well as the aforementioned Drake and Kanye. We’ve been treated to a slew of singles, from “First Day Out the Feds” to “Guwop Home,” but now it’s time to really get a feel for Gucci’s new mind frame.
