Another one?
After So Far Gone in 2009, Drake abandoned mixtapes for multi-platinum selling albums and his own record label, OVO Sound, which made him one of the biggest rappers in the world. However, in recent years, Drizzy has appeared ready to revisit the model. He infamously dropped his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late project–dubbed a mixtape, sold/streamed as if it were an album–without warning in February of 2015, and later that year Drake paired up with Future for What A Time To Be Alive, a collaborative project that the two rappers’ marketed as a mixtape, but that too was streamed and sold online. In addition, producer Zaytoven confirmed an upcoming joint EP from Drake and Gucci Mane that will likely be sold as well.
Chances are, considering his current elite status, any release from Drake will come with some sort of a price tag. But his interest in releasing projects that aren’t necessarily studio albums has clearly peaked. So, it isn’t surprising that at a recent Summer Sixteen tour stop in Kansas City, Drake announced that he’d be going to work on a new mixtape.

It’s only been 3 months since Drizzy’s fourth album, Views, was released, but it’s clear Aubrey isn’t interested in a hiatus. He even rapped “I’m supposed to be on a vacation right now / But I’m home wilding, word to DJ Khaled,” on French Montana‘s “No Shopping” single as a reiteration.
Only time will tell if a new Drake tape actually materializes.
