At the year’s onset, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, founder of Top Dawg Entertainment, made it very clear that it would be a busy year for his roster. With Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock being the only 2 TDE artists to release albums in 2015, fans were earnestly looking for more output from some of the label’s other stars: ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, SZA and Ab-Soul.
So far in 2016, TDE’s two biggest stars, Kendrick and Q, have dropped 3 albums between them, but the other artists have been noticeably quiet. That hasn’t stopped Tiffith from teasing forthcoming projects, however, as he’s posted snippets of new Isaiah Rashad music, tweeted his excitement about SZA’s upcoming A album, and even signed a new artist, Skiiiwalker, who appeared on Jay Rock’s 90059 last year.
Even Ab-Soul, who hasn’t released a project in over 2 years, is said to have turned in an album to end his hiatus. Whatever the release schedule is, it looks like we’ll receive its next installment on September 2, which is a date Top Dawg hinted at earlier today.

September 2 is a Friday–release day–so we’d be hard-pressed to believe there’s something other than an album, mixtape or EP arriving. The only question is, who? Could A be ready to launch? Is Isaiah Rashad ready to end his near 3-year absence? Could Ab-Soul be locked-and-loaded?
We’ll see in under a month’s time.
