Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City for Golden State was the biggest free agency signing since LeBron left Cleveland for South Beach in 2010. So, naturally all eyes will be on what happens when KD returns to OKC as a member of the Thunder-rival Warriors; chances are he doesn’t get the warmest of welcomes.
Whatever happens, we’ll get to see it unfold live on February 11, which is when the Thunder will play host for the Warriors for the first time in the 2016=2017 season. KD will be wearing blue and yellow when he faces off against Russell Westbrook and the new look Thunder, which will likely end up as one of the most-watched regular season games ever.
An ESPN report also revealed that, as expected, the Cavs will play host to the Warriors for a prime time Christmas Day match-up that’s been given a face-lift. Not only do we get an NBA Finals rematch, but Durant and Steph Curry vs. LeBron and Kyrie Irving? Should be on PPV.
It’s worth noting that, even when Durant was on the Thunder, Golden State and Oklahoma City played in one of the most highly-rated regular season games in recent NBA history this February, so the added storylines to next February’s match-up makes it that much more intriguing.
