Wale‘s preparing his 5th LP, SHINE, for a fall release this year, but he isn’t letting that keep him from supplying his fans with heat. The DMV native dropped a plethora of bangers on a free mixtape, Summer on Sunset, a couple months back, and is executive-producing MMG‘s fourth compilation album, Self Made 4–their first since 2013. In addition to all of that, if you’ve been following Folarin’s Snapchat, you’ll know at any given moment, he’s got songs, freestyles, remixes and more tucked in the chamber, ready to feed the frenzy.

Today was a lesson in that, as Wale defended his artistry on Twitter from the common throng of pundits, after a user poked fun at his being included in President Obama‘s summer playlist. (POTUS selected Wale’s “LoveHate Thing” off The Gifted as a song folks should be jamming to in the sweltering weather.) During his rants and replies, Wale engaged with fans about the unreleased music he’d been teasing, and ultimately opted to drop some of it straight to Soundcloud, in the form of a 4-song faux-EP, Today…I Got Time!
