A former quarterback for the Oakland Raiders was arrested Friday night on trespassing as well as methamphetamine and marijuana possession charges after he was found wandering naked in a total stranger’s backyard in Irving, California.
Todd Marinovich, a California native who graduated from the prestigious University of Southern California(USC), was found naked on a bike trail between homes around 9 PM Friday, according to police. Marinovich was found carrying a brown bag, inside which were the drugs.
Marinovich became the poster child for overbearing athlete parents in the late 80s when his intense upbringing made headlines. His father tried to create “the perfect environment” to rear a top-flight athlete, restricting Marinovich’s diet, crafting his training routine and bringing in experts to coach the young quarterback.
Sports Illustrated called him “America’s first test-tube athlete.”
Marinovich was picked up by the Raiders in the first round of the 1991 NFL Draft buit was let go because of substance abuse issues.
